Marisa is relatively new to the Purple Door family, and is very excited to be a part of it. She has always had a passion for working with youth. From being a consistent babysitter as a teenager, to being an Assistant Teacher and eventually a Lead Teacher at the Sparks YMCA. Once Marisa had her own children (Hallie 12 and Kenzie, 6), she took some time off to focus on being a mommy. For the last six years, Marisa has been a youth cheer coach (ages 5-15). She is also a member of the Board-of-Directors, as well as a committee holder for Sparks Pop Warner. Marisa whole-heartedly enjoys teaching your children, and is looking forward to creating long-lasting memories for years to come.

I was born and raised in Long Beach, California before moving to Northern California during my junior year of high school. I have been caring for children for more than 20 years and have taken many Early Childhood Education courses from Santa Rosa Junior College and here locally. I was a nanny for 6 years in Marin County, California before becoming a stay at home mom after the birth of my first child. I have 3 children, Kayla (18), Nathan (16), and Joshua (10). I have been married to my husband, Philip for 24 years!  I operated a family childcare business in California and here in Sparks until I decided to join Purple Door!  I feel so blessed and lucky to have been given the opportunity to work at such an amazing school. I love Stef's philosophy of "learning through play" and the passion she has for the children and families of Purple Door. I look forward to coming to work everyday to "play" with the children and guide them through their day and to help them foster a love of learning and discovery. In my spare time I love reading, enjoying the outdoors in this beautiful region and above all, spending time with my family.

I was born and raised in Reno, along with my three younger siblings. I have worked with children in many aspects—babysitting, preschool teacher, preschool manager, youth camp counselor and one-on-one with children with special needs. I have two more semesters left for my degree in Human Development and Family Studies, then I plan on attaining my Ph.D. in Social Psychology. Children teach me something new every day; with their honesty, ambition and loving nature. In my spare time, I enjoy trying new coffee, hiking, going to the lake and spending quality time with my family and friends. I am so excited to be a part of the Purple Door family and hope to make a difference and add value to everyone here!

I am so excited to be joining the team at Purple Door! My favorite job is being a mom to my four year old son. We love to explore the world around us!! We usually have at least one science experiment and art project going on at any given moment. I graduated from UNR with a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a Major in Special Education. While in school, I spent a semester working at the Person-Centered Assessment Training & Habilitation program (PATH). I have worked for Washoe County School District as a Teacher’s Aide for kids with Special Needs. I was a recreation coach and a job coach for a young adult with Special Needs. Lucky for me, my mom let me volunteer in her classroom teaching Cooking, Junior Achievement, and Art. I have been a nanny in the past, and also a supervisor for the Summer of Discovery program. I love nature, yoga, reading, dog walks, and my family.

I was born and raised in Reno, and now live in Lemmon Valley. I am a graduate of TMCC High School. I plan to go to UNR next Spring for my Early Childhood Education Degree. Working at Purple Door has been my first experience in child care, and I realized pretty quickly that this is what I love to do. Seeing children's intelligence, curiosity, and eagerness to learn, inspires me to help them grow, as well as continue my own growth. I'm very excited to work at such an amazing preschool with other incredible teachers.

I was raised in Las Vegas and moved to Reno for school about 5 years ago. I recently just graduated from UNR with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I plan on going back and getting my Master’s in Early Childhood Education. I started working with children at sixteen coaching preschool gymnastics. I have been working with children ever since either babysitting or coaching. I love being able to watch kids grow and overcome obstacles and get so excited for themselves. I’m so excited to join the Purple Door family and help each munchkin grow in their own way!

I was born and raised in Reno and absolutely love it here. I am currently a student at TMCC and will transfer to UNR soon. My experience working with kids started when I volunteered at Boys and Girls club for two years then eventually worked there for another two years. That’s when I knew I loved this line of work, having the ability to see kids learn and grow is such an incredible thing to witness and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to see it every day. I love working with the Purple Door family and can’t wait to create more amazing memories there!
I am excited to join the team at Purple Door Preschool! For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed playing and engaging with children. I am a big kid myself! Even as a young girl, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and one day have a lot of kids of my own. Professionally, I have worked as an Infant/ Toddler Director and as an ABA in-home tutor for students with special needs. Most recently, I was employed for five years at a local non-profit school for children with autism. While working full-time, I attended TMCC and took most of my Early Childhood Education courses from Linda O’Neil! I am currently enrolled at UNR to finish my bachelor’s degree in Human Development Family Studies. I am a passionate, kind, dedicated person and educator. I believe that anything learned in pleasure is learned in full measure. I like to make every day a fun and interactive learning experience. In my free time, I enjoy staying active with my family. I have been married for 26 years and have 3 boys. I like to camp, run, ski, and explore the great outdoors!
